Ellen Digital Network, which has long been able to bring big talent to its roster of digital shows, is once again assembling a star-studded lineup for the coming year, and tapping new platforms to feature them.
The network, a joint venture between Ellen DeGeneres and Warner Bros. Digital Networks, is working on new shows from comedian Tiffany Haddish as well as weekly digital series from Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s Ellie Kemper and Modern Family‘s Sarah Hyland, it announced today during a brief NewFronts presentation to marketers.
Kemper’s series, a weekly show called Help Me Gen Z with Ellie Kemper, will feature the actress sitting down with groups of Gen Zers to hear more about topics from their perspective. Hyland’s series, Lady Parts, will feature the actress alongside OB-GYN Dr. Sheryl A. Ross, who will talk with celebrity guests about sex, anatomy and health. Haddish’s show is untitled, and details about the series are still under wraps.
It’s not just television stars the network is working with; Ellen Digital is also teaming up with Tabitha Brown, an actress and vegan who has found an immense fan base on TikTok, on a new show. The series, All Love With Tabitha Brown, will include segments on cooking, parenting, social media and self care.
“We’re proud to partner with the IAB during these unprecedented times in 2020 to provide our clients, partners and most importantly our audience with Ellen Digital’s most expansive slate to date headlined by Tiffany Haddish, Ellie Kemper and Tabitha Brown,” Michael Riley, general manager of Ellen Digital Ventures, said in a statement about the new slate of programming. “We’re seeing new formats emerge daily and we’re excited to test, innovate and be at the forefront of digital production with all our talent.”
Ellen Digital is also working with Loni Love, a comedian, author, talk show host and newly ordained minister, on Officiate-ly In Love with Loni Love, where Love will officiate weddings with couples who have had their weddings postponed or canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. There’s a home renovation series in the works called Monica’s New Pad, starring writer and actor Monica Padman, and a virtual game night (called, appropriately, Game Night) hosted by Lauren Speed-Hamilton and Cameron Hamilton of Love Is Blind reality TV fame. Also in the works is Bretman U, an education-focused series hosted by YouTuber Bretman Rock.
Ellen Digital Ventures’ lineup is primarily focused on programming for ellentube, a short-form video platform where clips from DeGeneres’ talk show live alongside original programming and social media clips.
The Burger Showdown’s live event, held in 2018, garnered over 290M impressions. Ahead of RuPaul Drag Race season 12’s finale episode, the franchise has released the latest news and first full trailer for All Stars 5 and boy is it a doozy. After teasing the suspension of All Stars rules in a prior clip, the show has laid it all out. But since there’s so much packed into one announcement, here we’ve broken it all down.
Who are the judges?
Every season of Drag Race the judges — particularly the judge in the premiere episode — seems to get better and better. With the recent announcement, looks like we are still on that trajectory. Multiple Grammy award-winning artist, noted dad, and global superstar Ricky Martin will judge the season’s first episode set to feature a reading mini-challenge and “Werq the World” variety show.
As the season goes on, expect to see Tessa Thompson, Madison Beer, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Nicole Byer, Sarah Hyland, Tommy Dorfman, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, Bebe Rexha, Jane Krakowski, Sam Richardson, and Todrick Hall as guests.
RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley and Ross Matthews will return as regular judges.
Who is competing?
So there’s actually two levels to this! On one hand, the competitors have already been announced. Mayhem Miller, Miz Cracker, Shea Coulee, Ongina, Mariah Balenciaga, India Ferrah, Jujubee, Alexis Mateo, Blair St. Clair, and Derrick Barry will all face-off for the crown. And while they will no doubt put up some fierce competition, there is another way of competitors that will also perform on the show. Welcome to the first of many twists.
What are the twists?
In a teaser, RuPaul announced the suspension of All Stars rules. Now it’s been revealed that has multiple meanings. First up, according to a release, for this season lip syncs will be against the top queen and a secret lip sync assassin. If the top queen wins they get to send one of the bottom queens home and win a $10,000 tip. If they lose, the bottom queen will be chosen by a (second twist) secret group, and the $10,000 tip will roll over to the next week.
Out has reached out to Drag Race to clarify whether these unclaimed tips will add up week after week and whether the assasins win anything for their troubles.
When and where will it air?
Though it was originally announced to air on Showtime, All Stars season 5 will return to VH1 on Friday, June 5. Ahead of the premiere, there will be an All Stars marathon with episodes from every season beginning on May 30 at 6 a.m. on Logo. Directly ahead of the premiere Monet X Change and Trinity the Tuck will host a movie marathon of Legally Blonde, 27 Dresses, and The Devil Wears Prada on VH1.

💆🏻♀️ Always trying to multitask 🙃 I’ve teamed up with @Rooted_Rituals#ad because healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp. As a transplant patient (and #spoonie🙋🏻♀️), I’ve suffered side effects like hair loss, but these products can change the game. I love using their Cooling and Strengthening Tonic with their Scalp Massager (literally can’t put it down), it stimulates circulation and helps me have a healthy scalp. The BEST part of this partnership is that Rooted Rituals and I are donating $10,000 to @FeedingAmerica to help during this pandemic. You can find the full line of @Rooted_Rituals exclusively @walmart. #rootcrew#rootedrituals
is what Sarah wrote on her Instagram. Get Rooted Rituals exclusively at Walmart to make your scalp and hair feel better.
This whole Corona-Quarantine situation is really making us all go crazy. Sarah, Wells and their dogs Boo and Carl went for a walk outside their neighborhood to see some fresh things. Don’t blame them. I’m happy to see this little family all healthy and surviving.
Cosmo cover star Sarah Hyland knows being hella famous comes with some hashtag territory. And, ya know, sometimes it could be the best or the…weirdest thing. 😅We gave her a list of things she had to find in her hashtag feed (#SarahHyland) and she came across some strange content. Let’s just say the people are a big fan of her, uh, feet? Yeah, IDK guys. 🧐 Peep Sarah scrolling through some of her ‘Modern Family’ memz, doing a dramatic reading of a fake text convo with Louis Tomlinson (?!?), and remembering which celeb phone number she accidentally lost! If you can’t tell already, some tea will be spilled during this vid. 🍵👀
